Victoria Beckham has added another category to her ever-growing brand. The pop-diva turned fashion designer has created a line of eyewear in collaboration with the London-based bespoke frame maker Cutler and Gross. The optical line was inspired by necessity as she told WWD, ‘I do need to wear glasses but I haven’t found glasses that suit me or that I particularly like. I’ve always been quite self-conscious, so that’s why I’ve decided to do them myself.’ We’ve always seen VB in her standard over-sized sunnies, especially since launching her own collection of sunglasses in 2009. She loves wearing her own designs so it will be nice to see her wear this new line.
The collection will feature six different styles, each offered in three colors. The shapes range from feminine to unisex frames, including the heavy square-rimmed pair that both Victoria and her soccer-player husband, David Beckham, wear. The frames will be handmade in Italy, featuring a “V” on the tips and pearl-oyster interior lining. One of these luxe frames will cost you between $410-$530. No word on what US retailers will be carrying the collection once it’s available in January. Hopefully it’s Neiman Marcus!
