A New York Fashion Week State of Mind.

It’s September, and that means two things. Football & fashion week. While I’m super pumped that football is back (college & NFL) this post will be about the latter. New York Fashion Week is here. It’s definitely a big deal in the fashion industry but if you aren’t familiar here’s a few bits of info:

  • It’s a fashion girl’s dream to attend (I’ll get there one day!) & the most exciting time of the year.
  • Fashion week is really more like fashion month – all the fashion weeks around the world are back to back. (London, Milan, Paris are the major weeks to follow through October 8th)
  • Fashion week is always a season ahead – this September we will be seeing Spring 2016 collections.
  • Buyers from the top department stores are attending the shows and make appointments to start their selection process.
  • Some of the best parties between celebs, models, and designers happen during this time. Stay tuned to insta!
  • Fashion notables & blogger favorites from all over the world come out during fashion month, so bring your very best.

I’ll be doing a round up of my favorite shows later this week – come back to check out what’s to come for Spring 2016.

Which brings me to today’s post. Even though I didn’t make it to New York this year, I decided to show and outfit I might wear. Tell me what you think!

Spring Pink.

When the sun comes out in Dallas, it’s basically a requirement to get outside to feel the sunshine. Friday night a huge storm came through so I was glad to see bright, sunny skies the next morning. After running some Saturday errands, I met up with some of my girlfriends for a sushi date. Not much better than sushi and quality time with friends. Patio time is my favorite time!

Spring Style. Pink.1

Spring style is nice because you can still layer but with lighter pieces. This season is time for fun colors. One of the best ways to experiment with color is with scarves and other accessories. Scarves are my go-to accessory, I could wear one everyday [but I won’t!]. I just love this pink and white scarf my brother gave me. It’s so big, yet lightweight, making it really versatile. It’s by a brand called Raj carried at Last Call by Neiman Marcus. I threw on the scarf over an easy Vince oversized tee paired with skinny jeans from one of my favorite denim brands, Mother. The fit of their jeans are spot on. This skinny style is their classic fit, called The Looker. I chose a silver cuff and ring to go with the shades of red/pink. My burgundy suede lace-up heels are one of my go-to pairs of shoes right now. They add so much to a simple outfit and really make it pop. The lace-up shoe trend is everywhere right now and I can’t get enough! Might have to add a flat pair of sandals like these to my collection soon!

Teen Choice Awards 2012 :: Tia & Tamera.

Okay so who isn’t obsessed with Tia & Tamera, America’s favorite [second, maybe] twins? If you aren’t, you need to catch re-runs of ‘Sister, Sister’ and start watching their self-titled reality show on the Style network. They are too funny and such good role-models.

Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Tamera Mowry-Housley both attended the Teen Choice Awards this weekend in LA. Pregnant Tamera looked amazing in a baby bump hugging printed dress while Tia wore a Chagoury Couture neon yellow lace dress with nude pumps.

 Tamera accessorized her black & white dress with a simple gold clutch, pink pumps, and gold earrings with a turquoise drop. The mommy-to-be kept her makeup simple by keeping everything neutral except for a pop of color with a bubblegum pink lip. Tia played up her eyes to compliment her dress and kept her hair fun with loose waves.

I think the girls look fab on the pink carpet. Tamera, who is due in October, just glows and you can’t even tell that Tia has a one-year-old at home. Can’t wait to see their next red carpet looks, until then episodes of ‘Tia & Tamera’ will do!
