The other morning as I was getting ready for my work day, grooving to an R&B playlist on my Songza app, Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman” blared from my iPhone. While I’ve heard this song countless times, it was my first time seeing the album art for the song. “I’m Every Woman” was released on Chaka Khan’s debut album ‘Chaka’ in 1978. I just love the whole vibe that the album cover gives. Chaka just looks so 70’s flawless. The red maxi dress, floppy hat, big hair, gold pendant necklace are just so fabulous and eternally chic. Chaka’s emotion on the cover is so exuberant and I love it.
I’ve been anxiously awaiting Justin Timberlake’s comeback to music and he did not disappoint. My new favorite song is “Mirrors” off JT’s new album “The 20/20 Experience”. The whole album has hits but I can play this song on repeat and not get tired of it. “Mirrors” is a beautifully well-written song that conveys a feeling by telling a story and this song does it in a unique way.
I heard that the video was cool and I finally sat down to watch it.
The video is a tribute to Justin’s grandparents, Sadie and her late husband William who passed at the end of this past December. The video was a surprise to Sadie, she didn’t know before watching it for the first time that it was about the love between her and her husband who were married for 63 years. ‘Justin didn’t tell me he was doing it (making the video), it was a surprise. He said, “you have to see this video, just you sit down and watch it.” I was moved by it, it brings tears to my eyes. It’s a lovely tribute to us.’
As the video directed by Floria Sigismondi unfolds, we see a widow going through a box of belongings that traces her history with her lover. The ups and downs are chronicled through their teenage years, wedding, and growing old together. The video takes us on an emotional journey but the importance of love is sincerely felt throughout.
We don’t see Justin until the song breaks to the extended version. The part where Justin catches the ring from the generational love story is what Sadie loved most. She said: ‘I like the way he catches my wedding ring, like he’s the husband now. He’s making a great husband. I am close to Justin and it’s a lovely, beautiful thing to have done. That’s how he is.’ For the rest of the video we get to see the classic JT dance moves that we all fell in love with back in the *NSYNC days. I’m obsessed with the song, love the video. Justin thinks outside the box, I can’t wait to see what else he has up his sleeve.
Does “Mirrors” move you?

This girl (me, obviously) is obsessed with vests.
Once I saw this Rebecca Taylor one I immediately fell in love.
Biker jackets were all over the Spring runways and I think the vest version is so chic but still cool. It’s a fun way to wear this hard/soft look in the rising temperatures of spring and summer. Vests are a great addition to your closet. They can make any outfit fresh and new. Vests are easy to dress up or down. You can wear a vest with a v-neck tee and skinny jeans for brunch with friends or throw on a vest over a cute floral dress for a nice dinner date. As with any jacket, you can’t go wrong with a neutral color. Creams, black, and grey are all go-to colors for a versatile vest. But you can also add some fun color to your outfit with an orange or hot pink vest. Can’t wait to grab a few vests to update my spring wardrobe. Will you be doing the same?

kouple couple Kimye is at it again. They are no stranger to the public lens, this time doing it in an editorial scene for the French men’s mag L’Officiel Hommes shot by Nick Knight for the Spring 2013 edition. The cover was released last week with a naked Kanye & Kim in a lover’s embrace.
The rest of the spread keeps the focus on Kanye, with clothes on. The spread is lengthy, featuring about 10 other shots. There is probably an editorial component, but nothing has been released yet. The parents-to-be look to be in love. Can’t wait to see their next editorial shoot, maybe with baby Kimye in tow?
Already a winner before stepping on the red carpet at the 63rd annual Emmy Awards, Gwyneth Paltrow wows with her Emilio Pucci ensemble. The bare midriff look is a departure from her usually girly gowns but she pulls it off. The intricate beadwork and tulle accents really make this look outstanding. She accessorized with flawless makeup, straight locks, Neil Lane jewelry, and Roger Vivier sandals.
She won the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy for her role on “Glee” as the guidance counselor Holy Holiday.
Not many people can [or should] do a bare midriff on the red carpet but Gwynnie pulls it off.
My brother’s girlfriend bought a simple, cute green dress. She asked for some help styling it so here’s what I came up with!
Norma Kamali maxi dress, 55
Boyfriend jacket, $130
House of Harlow 1960 gladiator sandals, $149
Rebecca Minkoff leather handbag, $266
ASOS cocktail ring, $27
FLOWER BALL VASE | Vase, Modern Flower Holder, Center Piece, Modern…, $38
No matter how she wears it I have no doubt that she’ll rock it.
Let me know what you think! If you have styling questions or have a cute item that you don’t know how to wear let me know && I can help!
I saw this picture of Jennifer Lopez outside her hotel in Paris and just had to share. Jenny from the block is looking extra fabulous in this Fall 2011 Rachel Zoe ‘Cameron’ tuxedo dress in white. J.Lo is in Europe promoting her new single “On the Floor”. Everything about this look screams diva and she wears it well. Even the sunglasses are on point, they remind me of my new Dior sunnies. The 41 year-old mother of twins is working this look to perfection.
You’ll be able to get this dress and the whole Rachel Zoe collection at Neiman Marcus in late july/early august.
