Best looks of Cannes Film Festival 2011 – part I.

May 16, 2011

The annual Festival de Cannes is taking place this year from May 11-22. There are so many amazing looks coming from the stars every day. Here are some of the red carpet highlights from the first 6 days.

Fan Bing Bing in Atelier Versace. “Wu Xia” premiere.
I wish there was a better picture of this dress but I just love the color and the jeweled waistband. The train is stunning too.

Diane Kruger in Calvin Klein. “Sleeping Beauty” premiere.
Diane looks amazing as always in this simple, form-fitting dress from Calvin Klein. She wears it so well.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Elie Saab. “Wu Xia” premiere.
Prints are not easy to do on the red carpet but SJP makes it work.

Sonam Kapoor in Jean Paul Gaultier. “The Artist” premiere.
This structured dress is so pretty. I love to see throwback dresses like this Spring 2009 on the red carpet.

Gwen Stefani in Stella McCartney. “Tree of Life” premiere.
Although Iman wore this same jumpsuit in gold to the Met Gala, I still love that Gwennie rocks it.
The curly hair and the pink lip are perfect.

Met Gala 2011 — Haute Looks && the Odd Couple.

May 7, 2011

There were so many great looks that graced the red carpet I just had to show some of the other looks. Check ’em out, tell me what you think. Is there anyone that you loved that I missed?

Sarah Jessica Parker in vintage Alexander McQueen.
love. love. love.

Carmelo Anthony and Lala Vazquez.
No one gave these two any shine but I think they look amazing. I’m kind of obsessed with Carmelo in the all black.
Lala is princess perfect and the colors of the dress and makeup are spot on.

Anna Wintour in Chanel Haute Couture.
A dubs looking oh-so-chic in the runway Chanel. She wears Chanel to this event every year.
This dress isn’t for everyone but I think she makes it cool.

Mary-Kate Olsen in vintage Christian Dior.
MK is giving a totally different look than the rest of the attendees. This vintage Dior is spot-on bohemian which is the hot trend for spring/summer. I love the red dress paired with the green jewelry and the smoky eye she’s wearing is killer.

Jennifer Hudson in Vera Wang.
Mrs. Jennifer Hudson looks amazing in this gown. I’ve been loving her fashion choices as of late.
I had to add the picture of her with the designer of her dress, the talented Vera Wang looking great in that chartreuse color.

Iman in Stella McCartney.
This woman never ages. Look at her rocking this low-cut gold jumpsuit.
She just looks flawless. Werk.!

Tory Burch and Kanye West.
Kind of the odd couple, no? Apparently Tory Burch is launching a menswear line and got Kanye to wear a suit from the collection. I never would have picked these two as friends. What do you think of Tory and Yeezy??

Met Gala 2011 — Hits && Misses.

May 3, 2011

Last night was the 63rd annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Also known as the Met Gala for short, this event always boasts exciting themes and feels like the Oscars of the fashion world. The event this year was the kick-off to the new exhibit honoring the late Alexander “Lee” Mcqueen. We’ve been talking about McQueen all weekend since Kate Middleton married Prince William in a gown designed by Sarah Burton, the new creative director for the line. The exhibition celebrates Mcqueen’s work from 1992 at Central Saint Martins to his final runway collection presented after his death last February. Alexander Mcqueen: Savage Beauty will be on display at the Met until July 31st.

There were so many great looks, I wish I could show them all.
Here are my top hits and misses of the night.

Hit. Zoe Saldaña.
[in Calvin Klein]

On a night when most people were going for over-the-top, Zoe went simple and couldn’t be more perfect. Her sorbet dress is refreshing amongst the sea of crazy. (you’ll see below)

Miss. Rihanna.
[in Stella McCartney]

Surprise, surprise…I’m not feeling Rihanna’s look. I like the hair and earrings…just change the dress.

Hit. Diane Kruger.
[in Jason Wu]

When is Diane ever a miss on the red carpet? Never.
That leg she’s giving is so fierce and I love the red lip with the hair swept to the side.

MISS. Andre Leon Talley.
[in a huge purple cape]

I don’t really have any words. I love ALT as much as the next but no….

Hit. Ginnifer Goodwin.
[in Topshop]

Who knew Topshop looked so good?? I love color and silhouette of this dress.
Ginnifer is working it though with her hair, accessories, and makeup.
I love the shoes.!

Miss. Fergie.
[in Marchesa]
Not sure what look Fergie is going for here…but it’s not working.
The color and the fit are really killing this look.

Hit. Ashley Olsen.
[in vintage Christian Dior Haute Couture]

Didn’t see Ashley’s arrival picture until today and it couldn’t be better.
This vintage Dior is so stunning on her.

Miss. Chrissy Teigen.
[in Chris March from Project Runway]

Not sure why John Legend would let his girlfriend go out in this…I think this is a fail on so many levels.

Golden Globes 2011::Eva Longoria in Zac Posen

January 17, 2011

Eva Longoria is a red carpet pro. She scores another hit with this black number by Zac Posen.

I was expecting color from the “Desperate Housewives” star but the overall look is gorgeous. Simple and elegant. Eva adds silver brooches to the waistline to break-up the black. Can’t forget the fishtail hem. Ms. Longoria knows how to work a train. Her frame might be petite but she can rock a fishtail with the best of them.

And then she strikes a pose to show us the back of the dress. Oh how I love an exposed back. This detail takes this dress from an 8 to a 10 for me. Some may consider this look to be boring but I love the basic black with a twist. Eva’s marriage to NBA star Tony Parker may be over but she continues to turn heads in this Zac Posen dress.

Golden Globes 2011::Olivia Wilde in Marchesa

January 16, 2011

Olivia Wilde in Marchesa. 2011 Golden Globes

First up to the Golden Globes red carpet this year was Olivia Wilde and she did not disappoint.

She looked stunning in the sequined Marchesa ballgown. The Tron: Legacy and “House” actress started the night off on a good note. The ombré color is divine. The ballgown silhouette might overwhelm some but Olivia finds the perfect balance. She even gives us a peek of her fierce Loubotins under all that dress. I love the bangs and straight hair. The makeup is simple and doesn’t compete with the dress.

She definitely was one of my favorite looks of the night.
